Writer's Block: Facets of a Hero

What makes a hero?

View other answers

What makes a hero? That's always in the eye of the beholder. To a young child, a parent can be a hero. To a parent, a hero could be a child.

Personally, I feel a hero is a mostly selfless person that performs actions not only for themselves, but for a greater good--which could be anything from helping someone with their homework to going into a burning building to save a dog.

However, to be a full blown "hero," I feel that this person must overcome a personal obstacle in order to perform the good deed(s).

Aside from these things, I think a hero can be anyone.

Summer in Houma

Summer in Houma
Category: Life

Hello all of my friends!

For those of you out there who wish to know, I will be leaving for Houma on the 13th of May and will be returning the 27th of May. Yes, I know this is only two weeks, but I’ll be leaving to go to Cancun right after! I’ll be in Cancun from the 1st of June to the 10th with Paul’s dad’s side, so I have to get back asap so I can recuperate for yet ANOTHER plane ride. Fun, eh? ;)

After that fun but brief interlude, I will be returning to Laramie to work and take a summer course in communication. I won’t be taking any more English classes after this semester.. I’m dropping that major and sticking with communication. I’ll hopefully be going to graduate school!

As for a life update: Paul and I are still going out (nothing more, nothing less), Amanda is living with us in our new apartment, I haven’t pulled ALL my hair out due to assignments yet, and I’m making enough money at the cafe to sustain myself (which is always a good thing!).

In other news, San Francisco was a freaking blast! I haven’t enjoyed myself that much in such a long time. The only bad things were the random hills.. but the beaches were definitely worth the walk! I have pictures posted for anyone who wants to see. =]

Other than that.. definitely not much going on. I’ve been going to the gym to prepare for Cancun (for some reason, I just don’t think I should horrify the masses of Cancun with my current figure). It’s definitely fun, but sometimes my calves yell out to me: PLEASE STOP! I just ignore them. Haha.

Well, I hope everyone out there has a great summer and all that jazz... good luck studying for finals and stuff in a month or so!
